Heidelberg’s School of Music & Theatre is getting ready to bring the SING at its Vocal Arts Intensive summer camp June 16-20.
Middle school and high school students ages 13-18 are invited to participate in the five-day camp on Heidelberg’s campus to discover their vocal potential. Both overnight and commuter options are available.
Participants will join Heidelberg faculty and students for this workshop dedicated to building vocal artistry and confidence as a performer, said Dr. Carol Dusdieker, associate professor of voice and camp coordinator.
During the camp, future singers will explore vocal ensembles in a variety of sizes and musical styles. They’ll also have the opportunity to participate in voice lessons dedicated to exploring a healthy vocal technique. Daily, there will be performances and master classes, and the participants will receive personalized feedback to assist in their vocal journey. They’ll also dive into interactive pre-professional sessions on auditioning, acting for singing, stage movement and singing in foreign languages.
The camp culminates with a fully staged and costumed performance of CommUNITY: A Musical Review.
The registration deadline for the camp is Friday, June 7. Cost for residential campers is $550 for a double room, $675 for a single room. Cost for commuters is $450. Scholarship assistance is available.
